The oldest Bulgarian winter resort Borovets has been known since 1896! Today Borovets
is one of the leading Bulgarian ski resorts. It is situated on the Northern slopes of the Mousala ridge in the eastern part of the Rila Mountain. Huddled in venerable pine woods 1,390 meters above the sea level (with highest pistes at 2,600 m) makes it an ideal leisure.

The slopes of Borovets have snow cover from mid December till end April. Borovets is easy accessible- a 12 km first class road links it with the town of Samokov; Sofia (the capital of Bulgaria) is just 72 kilometers away.

The excellent equipment for ski sports attracts thousands of mountain lovers from Bulgaria and abroad. They can use the 45 km of various in difficulty and length ski pistes grouped in three regions: Sitnqkovo – Martinovi Baraki – pistes; Markudjik- 4 pistes and Qstrebec- 3 pistes. The pistes on Qstrebets are the best- and all of the competitions in the resort are taking place there! The resort is a regular host of various winter sports competitions. It has twice hosted World Cup Competitions in Alpine skiing. Its biathlon track is one of the best in Europe.

Borovets is a resort of Alpine type and provides very good conditions for snow sports during the winter: skiing, night- skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, ski jumps and biathlon, ski-doo, in the resort, etc.

Its ski runs are ideal for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers.

The ski runs of Borovets are located in three different regions. Cross-country and biathlon tracks are located 2 km away from the resort together with the cross-country tuition tracks.
Borovets ski centre is serviced by well organized life system, inclusive Gondola lift.
14 snow cannons for artificial snow are installed to guarantee the snow cover if needed.  The Borovets ski school has been known as one of the best in Bulgaria. There are more than 200 ski instructors fluent in foreign languages and some of them are former professional skiers.

The Super Borovets Project - sustainable development at all stages!

Super Borovets is one of the major projects in Bulgaria. The project’s aim is to increase the capacity of the lifts and the ski resort. The resort will spread from the town of Samokov to the village of Beli Iskar and will be divided into three levels. This project will turn Borovets into a year-round resort.

The mega-project will encompass the towns of Samokov and Beli Iskar and will expand one of Bulgaria's most popular skiing place Borovets resort.

The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev, former king and former Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg, as well as Oman's Sultan and Prime Minister Qaboos bin Said al-Said, who is one of the main investors in the project.

The first level in the project, the so called "Low Borovets", will be situated at 1100 m above the sea level, 6 km away from the town of Samokov. The second tier will cover the nowadays Borovets resort situated at 1,300-1,350 m above the sea level . The third level "Super Borovets" will accommodate those tourists who are looking for the luxury and will be located at 1600-1800 m above the sea level.

Rila-Samokov 2004 AD, the company that will implement the project and owns 2 mln sq m of land in the Borovets mountain area, plans to invest EUR 500 million over the next few years.

The mega-resort is projected to sport nineteen new ski tracks with a joint length of 42 kilometers and the accompanying infrastructure, lifts with capacity for 37,000 tourists, ski facilities, hotels on a built-up area of 100,000 sq m and around 400,000 sq m or no more than 4,000 units of vacation homes.
